Me 11:43, 13 April 2009 (EDT)

I couldn't sleep until after midnight...and I was sitting in bed for two hours before. I woke up again several times just like I had the night before. I woke up at 7:30 and have been awake ever since. There is only one reason that I can't shake from my mind:

I'm terrified of this being another dead end.

So...it's not quite another dead end...but almost close enough.

He looked over everything and said, "I don't see why they think it's neurological. And even if it was, there's nothing I can really do to find out if it's the nerves of the stomach short of doing a spinal MRI."

Cervical Spine MRI
If you are having a cervical spine MRI detailed images of your neck will be shown. MRI produces better soft-tissue images than x rays. A cervical spine MRI can help your doctor assess your spinal cord, vertebral disks and surrounding tissue.

He took a crapton of notes though. Wrote down all the weirdness that is Me over the last two months. Did a full motor coordination check (very neurological doctor thingy), and could definitely see doing things involving my right abdominal muscles hurt like hell. Still in the end, he said it wasn't him, and he's just really, really confused why those other docs even thought it would be him.

The major suggestion he gave -- other than ordering the MRI -- is to seek out a Pain Specialist. Yeah, that's it...pain management. The medical term for, "Suck up and deal with it...with pharmacudicals!" Supposedly there's a low-dosage patch with pain reliever in it that you wear every day (gee, do I put it on anywhere where I'm also supposed to put my Testim?), and then, a little Percocet for those extra fun days. Oh yeah...and he gave me a new script for Percs. Go, go, Percocet Rangers!

He's also concerned that I haven't been sleeping well for the past several days. He gave me a drug that will help me sleep as well...and it happens to be "an anti-depressant in very high doses". Yay for that. Sure, the body needs sleep in order to heal, and I haven't been exactly helping...but then again, neither have most of my doctors.

So here's the game plan currently:

  1. Hear back tomorrow from the neuro about when the MRI is scheduled
  2. Hear back tomorrow from the neuro on when I get into the Pain Specialist
  3. Get into the Pain Specialist (hopefully) before 4/24 and have them fill out the FMLA paperwork so I don't get fired from ThePit
  4. Following at least the MRI results...go back to the new GP, circumventing the the snotty nurse, and go, "OK Jack...now whut?"

Note, I'm 'not going to go to the chiropractor until at least after the MRI. I don't want him potentially fixing things for the regular docs and them going, "OK, why were you in such a tizzy...nothing was wrong!" I'd rather them say, "Ah, yes...you're back is all messed up. Here's some pain meds for life. Got no clue how to fix it." Then, go to the chiro and he fixes me.

"The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men, gang aft agley."
