Yes, I know I still have to finish yesterday's post (which is really the weekend's wrap-up), but after the last two or three days (read: weeks...or months), this is what I got:
2007

And thus my Christmas vacation comes to an end. :) In order to do all the work last week, I had to take and eat up all the Christmas vacation I had scheduled (as well as Halloween).
Monday was spent starting to attach the new ceiling fan and Meet the Teacher Day. Tuesday was finishing the fan while Wifey completed purging the bedroom in prep for me to paint. Wednesday was spent shopping for construction supplies and then laying down half of the drop cloths / taping down the room. Thursday was completing the floor taping and moving furniture. Friday was sanding the walls and spackling holes, divots, and cracks. Saturday (after the Dino show) was sanding all of that down. Sunday was shot between church and errands.
So, a week later, I have a very well protected room, thoroughly spackled and sanded...and not an ounce of paint applied to the wall.
At least Wifey got her bulk cleaning and purging done (with Lawgirl and ClimberBabe's help). She got the furniture out that needed to get out. She got the walls cleaned. The kids toys were purged (no more McD's toys!!!). On top of all of that, we also got a megaton of clothing / bedding donations dropped off to a local homeless shelter.
The next step after all this for her is the "showcasing" work. That can all be done at least while Princess is biting at her kneecaps (or watching Dora the Explorer) and while TheBoy is at school. This of course will include repeated beatings of children to not leave toys everywhere in the house like normal (in case we need to bug out for a showing at spot-notice).
I on the other hand will be painting...through Labor Day.

Damnable sprayer!
I spend all last week prepping the room to use the Wagner Sprayer. My friend (Uncle Ducky to the kids) said, "Hey, I can loan you my compressor if you don't have on!" Great! NOTE: I've never used one of these things, so other than seeing the box up there and knowing it came from FIL when they moved here, I went blindly into this.
So, tonight, I mix the paint with the very cool mixer attachment for my drill. Beautiful hue. Gonna look great on the wall.
First, it draws the stuff half way up...and stops. I find out that one of the nozzles should be OUTSIDE of the bucket, and only the large one in. I clean it out.
Then it doesn't come up any more. I realize that Hey! The compressor isn't hooked up! I look through the book and can't figure out how to hook up the compressor, so I guess it should go into the newly cleaned hose. I hook things up...nothin.
I reread the instructions. Crap, I gotta thin the paint that's the problem. I begin to thin the paint. Nothin.
I say screw it and pour the paint into the little one quart cup (which is gonna make this project take forever. it works! Then it goes on wet...very wet. Almost gloppy wet.
I am not amused. In fact, I'm angry. Wifey is trying to fight the kids into bed (she was the one who suggested I try to paint at night, so I'm off the hook for the Evening Beatings), and they're both asking me questions. I lash out in unheard of medicated anger, and the boy cries. A lot. I try to comfort him in his room, but am screamed at to get out.
I leave eventually and Wifey calls me into Princess's room. I take over in there, she cuddles me and makes me not feel like the shittiest daddy in the world...
- Side note: "shittiest" is in the Firefox in-line spell check, but "spackle" is not. Go fig!
...and proceeds to nearly fall asleep in my arms. I put her in bed, she asks for Mommy, and as I walk out, I'm invited into TheBoy's room because he wants to read a book to me. He wants to read a book to me. The Backyardigan's have never been so thrilling.
Kids in bed, and I clean up the equipment, and come down here. The end. !@#$ing machines!
