Dungeon 2 Set

From my brain

Overview

I originally obtained this text from a Hordie on the Lethon server called Hordeftw. I decided to archive it here just in case it goes boom. Good resource for anyone trying to get their Dungeon 2/Tier .5 gear.

Unless otherwise notated, everything in the next section comes from Hordeftw's Guide.

Guide

Keep in mind that you can pick up the quest and grind out for the other items it requires, even if you don't have the piece of armor. Ultimately, however, you must get all the set piece(s) to complete a certain line.

Further, you MUST do the quest lines in this order. You cannot, for example, get the belt and gloves until you get the bracers. you cannot get the pants, shoulders and boots until you have the belt and gloves, and finally, you cannot get the head and chest until you have the pants, shoulders, and boots. So no matter how much you may want a single piece, you need to do the entire line.

Overall materials needed

230 gold (or soemwhere around there) 20 Enchanted Leather 3 Mooncloth 4 Cured Rugged Hides 8 Large Brilliant Shards 4 Greater Eternal Essence 10 Stonescale Oil (see infra Quest Line 2 for instructions on obtaining this mat) 1 Delicate Arcanite Converter 3 Dark Iron Bars 1 Flask of Supreme Power 4 Dark Runes 1 Hallowed Brazier (120g, requires Honored: Argent Dawn)

Gathering these materials prior to doing the quest lines will save you considerable time. Also keep in mind that as of 1.10, the price for both these mats and the raw materials to make them have shot up. Be mindful of how much money you may end up spending. As of 4/1/06, purchasing these mats will run into the 200 gold range or more.

Alliance: Quest line starts in the IF throne room.

Horde: Quest line starts in Thrall's chambers.

Quest line 1: Bracers

Required Materials: none.

Simply done. Head out to Winterspring and grind Bears/Frostsabers until you get 15 bloods. The drop rate on the blood is pretty solid, maybe 30%. Return to IF or Org. with your set bracers, 20g, and 15 blood, and you will recieve your .5 upgrade.

Quest Line 2: Belt, Gloves (epic)

Required Materials: 4 Greater Eternal Essences, 10 Stonescale Oil*, 1 Delicate Arcanite Deflector**.

Stage One

You're send to Gadgetzan, Tanaris. Once there, talk to Mux Manascrambler. He requests 1 Delicate Arcanite Converter, 4 Greater Eternal Essence, 10 Stonescale Oil, and 40gold, as well as 25 "Volcanic Ash," obtained from Lava Pools in Burning Steppes. He wants this to build an "Ectoplasmic Distiller" for his newest project, an "extra-dimensional ghost revealer." Volcanic Ash is easy to find, as it's all over the Burning Steppes and you get 1-3 per pile. Gathering it shouldn't take long at all.

Stage Two

After assembling the Ectoplasmic Distiller, Mux sends you off with it to gather Ectoplasms - twelve each from:

1. Silithus (tortured Night Elves) 2. Winterspring (ghosts of the Highborne) 3. Eastern Plaguelands (Banshees, though Eyeless Watchers drop them as well. Northdale, NW of Light Hope's Chapel, is a good spot for these).

Each Distiller use consumes one Goblin Rocket Fuel; the eight he gives you in the bag ought to be enough. (On a PvP server, I was ganked and 8 was not enough.)

4/1/06 CONFIRMED: You can mooch off the distillers of other faction members. If they've dropped a distiller, just pull your mobs into its area of effect. Share one of your distillers when his runs out. It's like an extended warranty. Everyone wins!

Stage Three

Once you've taken these back to Mux, he tells you to go back to Burning Steppes and kill Magma Lord Bokk and bring back his Magma Core. Bokk can be soloed. He moves slowly, he's stunnable, doesn't hit that hard, and has relatively low HP. He does interrupt casting by throwing Lightning Shock often, and he has a knockback attack. I've found Bokk near the base of BRM, where the Orcs hang out.

Stage Four

Just one more stage in this line. You now need to go to Winterspring to get a "Fel Elemental Rod" for Mux to use as an energy channeling rod.

The rod costs 50g. The imp is in Darkwhisper Gorge, in the cave to the right. You can sneak past the two Hederine Slayers at the beginning, but you'll have to run past or kill one of the another mob in front of the cave. Now that all that tedious crap is done, Mux sends you back to the original questgiver in IF or Ogr., where you recieve your belt and epic gloves! Woot! Suck it Mux!

  • Stonescale Oil requires 10 Stonescale Eels and 10 leaded vials. Stonescale eels are a rare fish, obtainable in Azshara's Bay of Storms, Feathermoon Stronghold, or Steamwheedle Port in Tanars. As of 1.10, the drop rate on these fish has been significantly reduced. The recipe for Stonescale Oil is available to Alchemists who are Honored with Darnassus from the Master Alchemy Trainer in Feathermoon Stronghold. For Horde, Stonescale Oil training is available from the Master Alchmey Trainer in the town of Stonard (Swamp of Sorrows).
    • Delicate Arcanite Reflector requires 1 Arcanite bar and 1 Ironweb spider silk. As with Stonescale eels and Oil, the price for these has skyrocketed as of 1.10.

Quest Line 3: Legs, Boots (epic), Shoulders

Required Materials: 3 Dark Iron Bars, 3 Mooncloth, 20 Enchanted Leather, and 4 Cured Rugged Hides.

Stage One

You'll be heading outside of the gates of Stratholme with the extra-dimensional Ghost Revealer in tow. Find Anthion Harman's ghost, and pick up the quest from him. He'll tell you that you need to complete a:

45 minute, five-man Baron kill

Self-explanatory. The timer starts once you cross the second gate into the area with the mini-bosses. Bring 3 Dark Iron Bars, 3 Mooncloth, 20 Enchanted Leather, and 4 Cured Rugged Hides. Once you complete the quest, Anthion will request these materials. Having them in your inventory saves time.

4/3/06: I have completed this stage over the weekend. For Horde, I think the optimal group would be: Priest, Mage, Warrior, Rogue, Warlock (YMMV - like pizza toppings, everyone's going to have their own prefernces on group makeup). Don't stop to loot, and try to pull at least 2 abomonations at a time, chaining one if necessary.

Stage Two

After the 45 min baron run, you return to Anthion Harman outside Strat. He asks you for 3 Dark Iron Bars, 3 Mooncloth, 20 Enchanted Leather, and 4 Cured Rugged Hides, so having these mats on you will save time. After you turn these in, he sends you to DM library to talk to Falrin Treeshaper. Falrin gives you a quest to gather ogre warbeads off the ogres in DM and BRS.

Ogres inside LRBS have a drop rate of 1:2, but are less common within the instance. The ogres outside DM north have a very low droprate (1:30 or so), while the ogres inside DM north are about 1:5.

Once you have your 25 beads you return to the librarian. He sends you to gather 4 Dark Runes, 8 Large Brilliant Shards, and 1 Jeering Spectre's Essence, which drops off invisible ghosts in DM west. The essence is a group drop and you do not need the quest to have it drop (so to save time, I suggest you gather these materials prior to reentering the library). Return to the Falrin, and he'll give you a banner to take to BRD.

Stage three

Once you get the banner, you have to go into BRD and kill Theldren's Army and retrieve the Top Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet. To do this, enter the BRD arena, use the banner, and kill all the mobs that come out of the gates. Not a tough fight with a properly balanced group. After completing the quest, you get another quest that tells you to go back to IF or Ogr. and talk to the original 0.5 questgiver.

At this point, you receive your Tier 0.5 Pants, Shoulders, and Boots. Woooo! IN YOUR FACE SHELBYVILLE!

Quest Line 4 Helmet (epic), Chest (epic)

This is language borrowed from the ars technica forums. I'm at work and don't have time to edit it right now.

Step 1

After you have returned to Deliana in Ironforge and have received your Leggings, Shoulders and Boots she will send you to speak to another ghost, this time outside of BRS. The ghost is on a ledge near BRS outside of the instance.

Step 2

The Ghost will give you a Raid quest to slay Incendius the Emberseer in UBRS and a Duke of Flame in Silithus. Once youve killed them both, return to the Ghost in BRS.

Step 3

At this point the Ghost will send you to do a random quest based off of your class. There have been some who were told to kill Giants in Winterspring, others were told to kill Spirits in Eastern Plaguelands. While some others were asked to fight level 59 elites in Silithus. I guess it all depends on your class, but perhaps it is random.

Step 4

Once you get the previous item the Ghost has asked for he will send you into a random instance to summon a boss, based off of your previous quest. As an example: He sends you to LBRS to Voones room. Once Voone is dead you summon a Druid boss. Kill the Druid boss and get the quest item. (From all accounts even if you had a different pre-requisite quest you will get the quest item from any summoned boss. This is heresay at this point however).

Step 5

Once again return to the Ghost outside of BRS and he will send you to gather Blood Kelp from the Nagas in Dustwallow Marsh. They are 59-60 Elites.

Step 6

Return to the Ghost outside of BRS with the Blood Kelp and he will send you on yet another random quest based on your class.

Step 7

AGAIN return to the Ghost outside of BRS with the quest item and he will send you to gather Bracers off of Orcs in BRS. Accounts state that the Orcs in UBRS have a much higher drop rate than the Orcs in LBRS. Your mileage may vary.

Step 8

Once again return to the Ghost outside of BRS. Give him the bracers and a Flask of Supreme Power and he will give you what you need to summon Lord Valethak in the Beasts Room in UBRS.

Step 9

Clear to the Beasts room. Kill the Beast. Summon Lord Valethak. Kill Lord Valethak and loot the quest item.

Step 10

Return to the Ghost outside of BRS. He will send you back to Ironforge to speak to Deliana to receive your Helm and Breastplate.

Both reward pieces for this part are Epic

Now... You're done! Good luck in MC!

Conclusion

I hope this guide pwns faces, because I just took about 3 hours making it. And anybody reading this that isn't in our guild, <We Slay Internet Dragons> is the best guild on Lethon server.
