Raffle Items
What can we raffle?
Any service, craftable, drops, services (enchanting) or monies that are available. Gag items may also be used for humor- 37 pound redgill fish, troll sweat, other useless grays. Crafting materials may also be donated as a set. If available and willing, high level players may offer themselves as a raffle reward- slave for a day, run through dungeons, help with quests, etc. If you have the funds, it might also be fun to offer an 'honorary tabard for a month' prize- where the winner could redesign the guild tabard (worth $20 gold- once to change it to the reward, once to change it back).
How do we get items for the raffle?
Items can be collected anytime before the event. Advertise that you are looking for donations for the raffle, and set a deadline for no later than 1 week before your planned event. People may commit to crafting items by this deadline rather than having the items in hand by then.
Should we raffle individual items or groups of items?
I find it more entertaining to raffle groups of items. It increases the value of the ‘baskets’, and lowers the actual amount of drawings that are needed in order to clear all the donations. Items can be grouped by similarities – theme, armor, level, etc. Some examples of baskets to put together include- defies gear, potions basket, fisherman starter kit, pirate kit, pet store, twinktastick-sack, hunter kits, wedding ensemble, wine & cheese, Leveling materials for X profession 1-50, etc. It is advantageous to market these items under a catchy basket name, and post the total value of the items (by looking and linking it in Alakazam)
What to do with oddball items that don’t seem to fit in any basket?
These items can be raffled or rolled for as mystery prizes / freebies. This gives everyone the opportunity to win something, not just the raffle ticket purchasers. These items should be worth significantly less than the raffle baskets that are being put together.

Ticket Purchasing
When can we purchase tickets?
Advance ticket sales can be sold as soon as the basket prizes are publicized. It is up to the raffle coordinator A) how much to sell the tickets for (cost and/or sliding scale per levels), Whether or not to offer an early bird price, c) How many tickets can be purchased.
Can we purchase tickets after the event has started?
It is up to the planning coordinator when to cut off sales for the event. The raffle may go in stages. I.e. after stage 1 items are raffled off, sales will open up again for stage 2 and 3- and so forth. It is up to the coordinator to decide if a late fee will be charged, or if the ticket cost will be prorated if only 7 of the 10 items are left.
How do we get a ticket number?
There are 2 different methods to assigning ticket numbers.
Method 1
Have people /roll 100, 1000, 2000 (etc.) while in game, and send you their numbers along with the ticket costs. The host would then roll the same criteria /roll 100, 1000, 2000 etc. and the closest ticket number without going over wins the prize. To prevent a tie, the organize can try to prohibit duplicate numbers by resorting each time a ticket set is entered, or the tying parties, may reroll- and the high roll would win.
Method 2
The ticket number is determined when purchased. I.e. John purchased 5 tickets. His ticket numbers are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 . Susie buys 8 tickets. Her numbers are 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13. and so forth in the order that the sales occurred. The host would then roll / X where X would be the total number of tickets sold. In both cases, participants should pay in full when submitting their numbers, and the host should roll in front of a witness.
I am hosting the event. Can I purchase tickets?
Although this seems shady, if the process is done honestly, there should be no complaints. The host should have documentation for everyone’s ticket numbers, and there should be a witness on the roll.
What is a 50/50
A 50/50 raffle is another way of getting more interest and purchases in the Raffle. as 50% of the sales, will be raffled off (as cash). This usually will be a large pot of money, as it is an accumulation of all the ticket sales purchased for the event. The other 50% can be distributed in many ways- 1) guild bank 2) raffle prize 3) apportioned to volunteers 4) mount vouchers, etc.
