Me 15:43, 19 June 2009 (EDT)
I have been slacking greatly on blogging. Gotta get back into the habit.
This week though, the crud has hit me...hard. I guess I'm glad that even though my scores sucked on my proficiency exams, I didn't try to take it this week. Woulda bombed for sure. Headache, tired, runny nose, the whole bit. I feel like crap...even medicated.
Fathers Day is this Sunday, and my family is giving me the present of an empty house for the week. True, with not working, I could have gone with them, but I really need to refocus myself. I need to seriously start apartment hunting for us. I need to get the hutzpah together and ask the baker to take me on as an apprentice.
Gonna be a crazy week...but one with a little mental space to prep me for a big change in my life coming up.

- Back is better, but still not-quite-fixed.
- I'm tired.
- The management reports crashed
Nothing to see here. Same old same old. Move along (just like last year...LOL).

Well, at least something is looking up around here:
- SAPDude,
- You may or may not have met A yet. A has worked on the business side in the reports group. The primary work has been using MS Access, and some VB. The guys on the team have definitely pushed Access to limits and are a bright group.
- I would like for you to talk with A for 30 min next week to better understand his skills, and come back to me with a recommendation for when and how to use him. Please work through BossMan on setting this up.
- Thanks, ITDude
And then the response:
- Good AM A,
- I’m on the SAP Business Intelligence (BI) team. The BI team is charged with designing and maintaining the data warehouse from ThePit’s operational data. This data warehouse will provide the trend analysis, analytical data, and cross-application data delivery from collected data of SAP’s ECC, TM, EM, and RCM applications, and possibly, other ancillary data sources.
- I would like to schedule a time next week when we can get together and discuss ThePit’s information requirements, focusing on networking and logistics. I’d like to give you an overview of the goals of implementing and utilization of BI and the BI and SAP CE tools available. I would like to get your understanding of ThePit’s information requirements and how you have utilized existing technologies at Pacer.
- Please let me know your availability from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.
- Thanks,
- SAPDude
Mind you, I really don't like the connotations of the phrase "and come back to me with a recommendation for when and how to use him", but then again, after nearly 14 years here, how can I be anything but "used". Even so, this may be at least something for me to do and get a little more experience with. The last couple days around here have been sheer hell dealing with doing everything with a 12 year old application.
Right now, any development environment change would be welcome.

Brain is a little bit fuzzy with having stayed up entirely too late last night working on a quest. Had a blast and many laughs, yada, yada, yada, but I'm gonna pass out before the end of the day.
And yes, you're spoiled by really long posts. That's it. I'm done. Go back to doing your work. Wash some dishes. Answer some email. If you're reading this at work go *gasp* do some work!

Yes, I'm going DSL. Apparently it's finally in my area. We'll be paying $79 a month in the end of it all (all kinds of bouncing around in the first year with the discount incentives and whatnot), but that's cable, phone, and internet. Cable and internet was that much alone before, so we're at least saving the $20 for phone. Plus, we'll probably drop back to a few channels, and we get two DVRs in the house for the kids.
