So, is it Me, or is it only slightly hysterical that the day after the anniversary of me falling in love with Wassterstrom as a store for giving me a discount my knife kit replacement...I start working there two years later?

I'm loling on the inside.

2010

Me 12:20, 25 March 2010 (EDT)

So, before church last night, I grab some homework papers out of my bag, tossing my knife kit on the floor of my car, and then we headed off. Service was nice, we got back, and I grabbed my book out as well. I picked up my bag and put both it an my knife kit in the trunk of the car.

And that dear friends is the last I saw of my knife kit. This morning was a flurry of panic as I tried to look for it. I'd just cleaned the cars recently, so it's not like it would have been hiding in the crap that's usually littering my car.

So, now, I have two options: buy another knife kit for $185 from the school, or piece the items together. I'm going to go to the kitchen supply store and see what it'd take to put all the parts I want together.

It just sucks because at the apartment, I used to eye everyone that came around the car and NEVER not once had something stolen out of it. We move to the house, a fairly decent neighborhood, and blammo. Someone steals my shitty-ass school knives.

Not the way I wanted to end this week.

Ugly day. Bitter day. Crank SOB kind of day. I had such a short fuse that I even commented that I should be on my old meds. Yeah, that bad.

So, once the day of school ended, I ran out to shop for a new knife kit. The folks at Wasserstrom are getting to know me entirely no well, and the one lady who works there was very sympathetic to my loss. I tried to blow it off a bit that "at least they were the crappy school knives", but she said, "No! That's your stuff, man! Doesn't matter the quality. You get a connection with your tools!" I agreed with her, and then went about looking over all the gear I needed.

In the end, I got every last piece I needed except for a bench scraper and a slicer. The bench scraper I'll get at Bed Bath & Beyond (I like the one they have a lot, and want one for home as well as school), but the slicer...I just don't use much. I got all my stuff, went up to the desk, and happened to comment on the loss of my knives. The dudeguy -- who'd I'd never met before -- cut me an industry-level deal: 25% off! The student discount is only 10%. He saved me $45 bucks, and so I walked out of there with a full compliment of tools for less than $150.

From there, I headed right down the street to Lowes to pick up my new toolbox
. One of the guys at school has one just like it, loves it, and it seems sturdy enough. He also said it's only $20...and it was.

So, I managed to get (nearly) every last piece of gear I wanted (and then some), plus get a new wheeled case (as my suitcase was already starting to fall apart) for LESS than the cost of a full knife kit from the school.

Oh...and as for the theft. Yeah, here's the kicker: not only did the dumbass thieves steal the knife kit of a student (I mean, it's not like it was full of Globals or Wustoffs), but they pried open the window of AN UNLOCKED CAR! I never unlocked my car even at the apartment, and that neighborhood was kinda shady at times. This is a slightly nicer neighborhood, and yet I loose my stuff here.

I found this out when I stopped on the way home at the North Market and noticed my window was open a crack. It wasn't open like that when I was just driving it a minute ago...it was just whistling a bit. Instead, now it appeared to have popped off the track. You know, the kind of thing that happens when someone tries to pry their way into your car.

The lack of intelligence of criminals is astounding sometimes.

2009

It is not normal to sleep for 11 hours straight, and still feel exhausted when you wake up.

After yesterday's pharmacological faux pas, I tried to push myself to a six o'clock / 12 o'clock schedule rather than than the four and 10 one that I'd been on previously. That meant staying up until midnight, and if I'm up that late, I might as well play WoW, right?

Stupid. Really stupid. First of all, I tried doing an instance that should have only been a quick in and out half hour trip. After six wipes with the first group and an hour of it at that, we called the run over. We got the first boss down, but barely put a dent in the second. This particular instance is difficult, because it's a sort of gauntlet, and if you wipe, you start over from the beginning. Still not sure at this point if it was gear, skill, or just nasty draw of bosses (they're random) that was our downfall (although I'm leaning to the last).

It was 11pm at that point, and I was ready to cash in. However, a group from my raid group was going to venture in there, and so I went along to heal. First boss wasn't so bad for that crew, but it was still rough. Second boss was murder, and very, very tricky. Still, a couple wipes even with that crew, and it was already 11:45.

The pain started to hit. Early no less. I've been trying to stay on schedule, but apparently no dice last night. Floor came out from me, and like last week Friday, I was healing on auto-pilot. It apparently came through that way on voice chat, because I got a whisper of, "You OK?", right after I said, "OK guys, we only got one more shot at this."

At least by the time we finished (rather, wiped one last time) and I went to bed, I just passed out. The pain was there, but my body was exhausted, so at least there wasn't any tossing an turning (which, I think just ends up causing more problems). Still, this morning, I feel practically hung over, and I'm thinking the pills are starting not to work.

Additionally, news from yesterday: I've been on a "cancellation list" all along. If someone cancels, I'll get in, but so far, still no gastro appointment until 4/6. A friend from work gave me the number of her gastro that she went to last year for her gall bladder surgery (and her husband's issues which are remarkably like my own), and I'm gonna try calling them in a bit.

Oh, and joy of joys, I heard from RealtorLady. Apparently there is some sort of weird grace period where if an offer comes in around the auction of a house, there is the ability for someone to still buy it, nullifying the auction. So, that offer that came in at the midnight hour? Yup, it's going to possibly go through.

I really don't know what to think on that one.

2008

Me 07:25, 25 March 2008 (EDT)

Feeling mildly better today. I at least managed to put Princess down to bed last night while Wifey put the TheBoy down. Mind you, the stomach thing was still bein' funky to me, but at least it's staying lower intestinal (let's stay away from going down the TMI road, shall we?) and I'm not nauseous like many of my friends. The stomach did interrupt putting Princess to sleep, but she passed out while I was in the reading lounge.

After putting the kids down though, I was whipped. Like Sunday night, I crawled into bed, and passed out. I don't think it was even 9pm.

I had the alarm set for 5am...and I woke up. Like actually managed to be conscious and got up from the bed by 5:15. Showered, medicined, and tea started by 5:45, then down stairs to hop on WoW. It was then that I find they're taking down the servers...at 6am (EST). sigh I managed only enough time to log in, grab the roster, say high to the one guildie who was still logged on, saw the timer kick down to "[Server Shut Down] in 2:30"..."[Server Shut Down] in 2:15"..."[Server Shut Down] in 2:00", and I logged.

Of course, the armory is down today too, so I can't even get some of the data I'm digging for. It turns out we have a sponge of the guild. He appears to be taking vast amounts of resources from the guild bank, far more than seems logical. The only person to take more than him is one of my officers, and she's been taking it to send to my character who auctions all our excess items. He says he's rolling in money apparently, but yet he's also never been seen to donate into the guild coffers other than on our 50/50 draws.

Something is rotten in Denmark. Codemonkey shall sniff it out.

I have a new favorite blog to check out on occasion: Apostrophe Abuse. This is the ICHCB for those with a literary part of their brain too. LOL!

Nothing like helping Wifey through a printing crisis for her Tastefully Simple party tonight, couldn't get logged in to her account on their site to get the docs to print here, AND while this is going on, Countrywide decides to say, "Hey, did you know that you haven't paid your mortgage for the last several months?"

No shit.

Me 20:40, 25 March 2008 (EDT)

I'm just really tired of being hungry, then eating, then having stomach cramps.

I'm going to bed now.

Here's what I did last night (and why my brain is toast). And then there's the rest of the party (which since I always run a race, I barely ever see).
