And thus hopes are dashed. The job is on permahold. Budget issues? Training issues? Who knows?

The guy from Brooksource said he'd keep my name and keep an eye out for something else I might be a good match for, and that if the paper has this job open up, they'd call me back. I was "a good candidate" for it, but they just couldn't open it up.

2007

And thus the week of hell is over.

  • Monday
    • Pack Meeting was survived easily
  • Tuesday
    • Guild Relations Launch
      • Crazy, chaotic, but exhilarating.
      • So much so it seems because this is the first time I've mentioned it other than the email from Eyonix.
    • Den Leader Training
      • Very informative
  • Wednesday
    • TheBoy has strep and is out for the rest of the week
    • Test for the "University Transfer" race as part of the Caer Darrow Carnivale
      • Starts much later than planned (since I couldn't do time zone math), and so I don't get to bed until after midnight.
  • Thursday
    • I'm going to die with only four hours of sleep
    • Wifey has a Tastefully Simple party fund raiser for MIL's church
  • Friday
    • zomg! the party is tomorrow! /panic
  • Saturday
    • Complete failure at house repairs.
      • Couldn't find half the materials I know I have in the house to work on the sink or the light fixture in our closet.
        • Managed to only clean up clothes in bedroom, remove box-spring from bedroom, and then empty/reload the dishwasher to look less sucky.
    • Party prep and party

The party kicked of fairly smoothly. The only major issue was that the guy holding onto the prize tokens -- all of them -- was having internet issues.

Yeshe < Officer >: OK, what do we do now? Plan B?
Darias < Officer >: Yup, plan B! /panic!
Yeshe < Officer >: That's counter-productive.
Darias < Officer >: OK, you're right.
Karin < Officer >: I suppose we can just do it the old fashioned way...write the names down
Darias < Officer >: Do it. No other options present themselves.

The crowds were significantly less than what we expected (only hit 160 instead of our expected 300+), but we had a lot of new people show up. A ton of them were from off-server. Many of those were people who heard of us / were regulars on the Guild Relations forum. By far though, the race was my most successful ever. I had 14 people finish!

We gave out somewhere around 3000-4000g, but I have to fully check the numbers. Also, at some point this week, I need to do the Epic Item Drawing based on the 150 prize tokens which were doled out.

Once the post-party administrative cleanup is done, I'm looking forward to going back to just playing the game. That, and the Tiger den needs to get some of my attention soon. Slacked on that a good bit last week, but I don't have a den meeting until next Tuesday, so I should be fine.

2006

Me 08:48, 29 October 2006 (EST)

So, was a very rough night. Daylight savings got me an extra hour of sleep...or was supposed to. Princess woke up early even had the clock settings not been changed. Twice. TheBoy woke up early. I was up WAY late playing WoW. I am teh tired. While trying to wake up, we had CMT on and this video came up for Rodney Akin's song "Watching You".

The video hits full-on with the lyrics, and it got me thinking about the issues with the wedding and all. As I've said previously, I almost have started to avoid even TV shows where there's a scene with familial love between brothers or a father and son (even had an incident with the Winslow's on Family Matters yesterday; changed the channel at a "You're my dad..." speach).

With this song, I came to realize something: Yes, this whole situation bothers me. Yes it hurts. There may be a significant possibilty that I never rectify things with my dad OR my brother. But you know what? I need to change and work on my relationship with my son (and daughter) right now. Never let him feel this way from my reactions to what he's done (yeah, "Always be my Baby" came on too).

I'm going downstairs to have breakfast with my wife and kids (before she kills me for sitting up here on the computer).

Started working on the first of the stories Callistana and I have started that I'm calling my Prompt Projects, and this project is The Promise of a Kiss. My story is titled (currently) simply Perfect. I'm finding it VERY disturbing to seeing where it's taking me.

Brainrot is communicative. I don't think Lysol was made to get rid of it.

Only Happy Scotch Day.  :)
